Nina got divorced, and went to the pound to adopt a cute puppy to keep her company, but instead gets slobbering Fred because she feels sorry for him. First Fred and then Nina make friends with Alex, the gorgeous younger doctor who lives in the apartment below her; eventually they fall for each other but both have mental issues - she thinks she's too old, he thinks he needs to have a more stable life than as an ER doc to give her what she's used to from her asshole rich ex-husband.
